I stopped by Eagle Marsh for the first time this year on Tuesday evening. I had heard that the mating pair of bald eagles had returned to the nesting area they had used last year and I wanted to see for myself. I was not disappointed.
The eagles are using the same nest as last year, and it appears that there are either eggs or hatchlings in it. The female adult was on the nest the whole time I was out there. The male was perched in a tree a short distance away. As you can see in the photo below, he flew out to the road to greet me.
I’m looking forward to returning to Eagle Marsh in the near future. Hopefully, the weather will be nicer soon.
