Take out with a splash

A bald eagle made quite a splash as it caught it’s dinner from the Mississinewa River near Peru, IN. ¬†This is, without a doubt, the best eagle fishing shot I’ve gotten to date.

I have recently gotten into wildlife and bird/eagle photography and ran across your website. You have some terrific pictures, including some excellent in-flight eagle shots. I was surprised to see many of your shots were taken at Mississenewa Reservoir, which is only around 30 miles from where I live.

I’m primarily a landscape photographer and didn’t really attempt any wildlife stuff until last winter. Prior to that I didn’t have any lenses with enough reach to take any effective shots. I purchased a 300mm f/2.8 lens last year and with teleconverters have been able to shoot some eagles and other birds locally. I shot a few eagles late last winter and learned the hard way I needed better technique to get sharp shots. I had some golden opportunities that I messed up due to too slow shutter speed and other technical errors.

Anyway, just wanted to let you know that your photography is excellent. Keep up the good work!
